Important Dates

The rally will be held at 2 ASC, C/O Race Course Camp, Air Force Station New Delhi, and 7 ASC, No. 1 Cubbon Road, Bengaluru. Candidates must select two rally-venue preferences during registration, but CASB may allot a venue different from the preference. Requests for a change of rally centre, selection date or medical date will not be entertained.

Application Fee

Pay Exam Fee Through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI. The application fee is non-refundable after successful payment. The commonly used recruitment line SC / ST / PwBD Candidates: Rs. 0/- (Exempted) is not applicable to this intake because the official Agniveervayu Musician advertisement prescribes Rs. 100/- plus 18% GST for every applicant.

Age Limit And Relaxation

The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Class 10 certificate will be treated as the primary proof of age. Candidates outside the notified date-of-birth block are not eligible, even if their age appears close to the prescribed range on the application date. The notification does not provide a conventional category-wise age relaxation table. Therefore, candidates should follow the exact date-of-birth range instead of calculating relaxation on their own.

Selected candidates are enrolled for a four-year engagement under the Agnipath Scheme. They must undertake not to marry during the engagement period. An Agniveervayu found married, or marrying during the defined tenure, may be dismissed from service under the conditions stated in the advertisement. Female candidates must also comply with the pregnancy-related undertaking prescribed by the Indian Air Force.

Total Vacancy

The Indian Air Force has not published a numerical vacancy count for the Musician Intake 01/2027. Selection and final enrolment will depend on merit, medical fitness, organisational requirements, availability of vacancies and fulfilment of all eligibility conditions. Inclusion in the Provisional Select List does not create an automatic right to enrolment. The PSL will remain valid for six months from its display date and will apply only to Agniveervayu Musician Intake 01/2027.

Educational Qualification

Academic Qualification

Candidates must have passed Matriculation, Class 10 or an equivalent examination with minimum pass marks from a school or board recognised by the Central Government, a State Government or a Union Territory Government. The qualification must be complete as on the date of online registration. An internet printout, mobile screenshot or an unclear image of a marksheet is not accepted for document verification. Original certificates, DigiLocker-verified printouts and legible self-attested photocopies should be produced as prescribed.

Music Ability

The candidate must demonstrate practical musical competence, not merely possess an academic certificate. He or she should have accuracy in tempo and pitch, should be able to sing one complete song, and should be able to perform one preparatory tune. The candidate should understand and use at least one accepted notation system, such as Staff Notation, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani notation or Carnatic notation. Where the instrument requires tuning, the candidate must be able to tune it independently and should be capable of matching unknown notes through voice or instrument.

Eligible Musical Instruments

The applicant must be proficient in at least one instrument from List A or List B. Proficiency in two instruments, preferably one from each list, is desirable and can strengthen practical preparedness for the Air Force Band environment.

Musical Experience Certificate

In addition to Class 10 and practical ability, candidates should possess any one of the prescribed musical experience credentials. The accepted routes include Grade 5 or an equivalent or higher grade in one instrument from a recognised music institute; a diploma or equivalent qualification in music from a recognised university for Hindustani or Carnatic Classical Music; or certificates of participation and awards received in recognised events. Candidates relying on event participation or award certificates must be prepared to demonstrate the performance ability stated in the educational requirements, including staff notation for relevant blowing instruments.

Examples of music institutions mentioned in the notification include TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI and Berklee School of Music. The mention of an institution is illustrative and does not remove the candidate's responsibility to establish the authenticity and relevance of the submitted certificate.

Selection Process

The selection process is conducted through a pre-registered recruitment rally and is sequential. A candidate must qualify each applicable stage to move forward. Registration alone does not guarantee an admit card, and an admit card does not guarantee acceptance at the rally if documents or identity details are found incorrect.

1. Online Registration: Candidate completes registration, uploads documents, pays the fee and receives the submitted application form.
2. Provisional Admit Card: Only candidates issued a valid provisional admit card may report to the allotted rally venue.
3. Initial Document And Eligibility Verification: Original or DigiLocker-verified Class 10 records, musical experience certificate, identity proof and other applicable certificates are scrutinised before the Physical Fitness Test.
4. Physical Fitness Test PFT-I: Male candidates must complete the 1.6 kilometre run within 7 minutes. Female candidates must complete the run within 8 minutes.
5. Physical Fitness Test PFT-II: Male candidates complete 10 push-ups in 1 minute, 10 sit-ups in 1 minute and 20 squats in 1 minute in the prescribed sequence. Female candidates complete 10 sit-ups in 1 minute 30 seconds and 15 squats in 1 minute.
6. English Written Test: Candidates qualifying the physical test appear for a 30-minute objective paper containing 30 English questions based on the Matriculation or Class 10 CBSE syllabus. The paper is answered on an OMR sheet.
7. Music Proficiency Test: Candidates qualifying the English paper undergo practical evaluation in playing musical instruments, individually or with a group of instruments. The test may assess pitch, tempo, notation, tuning, song performance, preparatory tune and practical command of the instrument.
8. Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying the music test undergo medical examination by the Air Force medical team. The medical process is expected during September 2026 at 11 AFH Hindon and SMC, Air Force Station Jalahalli, as allotted.
9. Provisional Select List: The PSL is scheduled for 14/11/2026, subject to official changes. Merit, medical fitness, age, vacancies and eligibility are considered.
10. Final Enrolment List: Candidates finally called for enrolment are expected to be listed after 01/12/2026 and may receive an e-call letter through registered email and login.

Physical And Medical Standards Overview

Medical standards of the Armed Forces may differ from civilian medical standards. Passing the medical examination by itself does not guarantee enrolment. Candidates declared medically unfit may use the Appeal Medical Board procedure within the prescribed period and by paying the notified appeal fee, subject to the official rules.

Salary And Pay Scale

Agniveervayu Musician is engaged under the Agnipath Scheme for four years. The customised monthly package starts at Rs. 30,000/- in the first year and rises annually. Seventy percent is paid as in-hand remuneration, while thirty percent is contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund. The Government of India contributes a matching amount to the corpus.

At the end of four years, the approximate Seva Nidhi package is Rs. 10.04 lakh, excluding applicable interest, comprising the candidate's contribution and matching Government contribution. Risk and hardship allowance, dress allowance, travel allowance, ration, clothing, accommodation, Leave Travel Concession, medical facilities at service hospitals and CSD provisions may be available according to the applicable rules. Agniveervayu are provided a non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakh during the engagement period.

There is no entitlement to gratuity, pensionary benefits or Ex-Servicemen status merely on completion of the four-year engagement. Up to 25 percent of a specific batch may be considered for enrolment in the regular Air Force cadre based on organisational requirements, performance and Government policy. No candidate has an automatic right to permanent retention.

How To Apply Online

1. Open the official Indian Air Force Agniveervayu recruitment portal and select the online registration link for Musician Intake 01/2027.
2. Read the official notification, eligibility criteria, physical standards, document instructions and payment rules before starting the form.
3. Use a valid personal email ID and mobile number. These credentials must remain active throughout the recruitment, medical and enrolment process.
4. Enter personal details and contact details carefully, then generate separate OTPs for email and mobile verification.
5. Accept the declaration only after checking all entered information. Registration data may become final and later correction may not be permitted.
6. Use the generated User ID and password to log in and open the application form.
7. Complete personal, communication, qualification, music-experience, additional-information and declaration fields.
8. Choose two rally venue preferences. The final venue is allotted by CASB and may differ from the choices.
9. Upload the recent photograph, candidate signature, parent or guardian signature where applicable, and left thumb impression in the prescribed JPG or JPEG size.
10. Keep a working webcam ready for live image capture because the portal may compare the live image with the uploaded photograph.
11. Preview the entire form. Check name, date of birth, gender, qualification, certificate details, contact information and uploaded images before final submission.
12. Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 100/- plus 18% GST through the online payment gateway.
13. After payment, confirm that the application is auto-submitted and download the final submitted application form.
14. Print and safely retain the application form, payment record and login details for admit card, rally and future communication.

Candidate Can Read the Official Notification Before Apply Online. Submit only one application. If multiple applications with different registration numbers are submitted, candidature may be rejected, and the fee paid for additional forms may not be refunded.

Documents Required

Kindly Check & Collect All Documents — Eligibility, ID Proof, Address Details. Candidates should prepare both upload-ready files and rally-day originals. The following checklist is based on the official advertisement:

• Colour printout of Provisional Admit Card.
• Colour printout of the submitted online application form.
• Original or DigiLocker-verified Class 10 passing certificate and marksheet, with four self-attested photocopies.
• Original musical experience certificate and four self-attested photocopies.
• Eight recent unattested passport-size colour photographs in the notified format, including name and date details on a black slate where prescribed.
• Aadhaar card matching the identity shown on the admit card. Eligible candidates from J&K, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya without Aadhaar may carry another valid photo ID as permitted.
• NCC A, B or C certificate, if applicable, with the prescribed seal, signature and attestation or a valid digitally signed QR-coded certificate.
• Original NOC from the employer for candidates serving in a Government organisation, if applicable.
• Original discharge certificate for eligible candidates discharged from the Indian Army, Indian Navy or another Government organisation.
• COAFP or relevant service documents for eligible children of Air Force personnel, if applicable.
• Body tattoo photographs, including close and distant views, where applicable.
• Consent form for Physical Fitness Test and Medical Test. Candidates below 18 years must obtain parent or guardian signature; candidates above 18 may sign themselves.
• The musical instrument required for the practical test.
• HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler and black or blue ball-point pen.
• Sports shoes, shorts or track pants for the Physical Fitness Test.

Online Upload Specifications

• Recent passport-size colour photograph: 100 KB to 200 KB in JPG or JPEG format, with a light background and the prescribed black-slate identification format.
• Candidate signature: 80 KB to 150 KB in JPG or JPEG format, signed with black ink on white paper.
• Parent or guardian signature for an applicant below 18 years: 80 KB to 150 KB in JPG or JPEG format.
• Left thumb impression: 50 KB to 100 KB in JPG or JPEG format.
• Live image capture through webcam during online registration.

Important Instructions

• Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates satisfying every condition should apply.
• Registration must be completed between 20/07/2026 and 02/08/2026. The official advertisement advises early registration and states that extension should not be expected.
• Only pre-registered candidates issued a Provisional Admit Card can appear at the rally.
• The candidate must report on the exact date, time and venue printed on the admit card. Change requests are not accepted.
• No TA or DA is admissible. Travel, accommodation, food and the stay required for selection or medical tests must be arranged by the candidate.
• Mobile phones, smartwatches and electronic devices are prohibited in testing areas. Possession may result in permanent debarment.
• Do not write or perform rough work on the Provisional Admit Card. Such conduct may lead to permanent debarment.
• Original documents or acceptable DigiLocker-verified printouts are essential. Mobile snapshots, unclear images and ordinary internet copies are not accepted.
• Permanent tattoos are generally restricted. Limited exceptions may apply for specified locations and recognised tribal customs, subject to the selection authority's decision.
• The Indian Air Force follows zero tolerance toward narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, alcoholism and substance abuse.
• Candidates discharged from the Indian Air Force are not eligible to appear. Candidates permanently debarred from an earlier Air Force examination for malpractice are also ineligible.
• Selection is fair, transparent and merit-based. No bribe is required at any stage. Do not deal with persons claiming to be recruitment agents.
• Any discrepancy, false claim, duplicate application, concealed employment history or incorrect personal detail may lead to cancellation at any stage, including after selection.
• The English version of the notification will be treated as authentic if a variation exists in translated versions.
• All corrigenda, updates, admit-card notices, PSL and enrolment information will be published on the official CASB portal.

Exam Pattern And Syllabus Overview

Physical Fitness Test

PFT-I consists of a 1.6 kilometre run. Male candidates receive a maximum of 7 minutes, while female candidates receive a maximum of 8 minutes. Candidates qualifying the run proceed to PFT-II after the specified recovery period. Male PFT-II includes 10 push-ups in 1 minute, 10 sit-ups in 1 minute and 20 squats in 1 minute. Female PFT-II includes 10 sit-ups in 1 minute 30 seconds and 15 squats in 1 minute. Exercises are conducted in the sequence and with the breaks notified by the Air Force.

English Written Test

The question paper is in English and answers are marked on an OMR sheet. More than one marked option receives zero marks. Candidates must qualify the English paper, and the official notification states that results are declared on the same day. Preparation should cover basic grammar, vocabulary, sentence correction, comprehension, usage, parts of speech, tenses, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, articles, synonyms, antonyms and other Class 10-level English areas.

Music Proficiency Test

The practical music test is the central skill assessment for this intake. Candidates should practise one complete song, one preparatory tune, tempo control, pitch accuracy, sight or notation reading, instrument tuning, matching unknown notes and playing confidently both individually and with a group. They should carry the same type of instrument for which they claim proficiency and ensure that it is in proper working condition. For blowing instruments, staff-notation ability is particularly important where required by the musical qualification route.

Medical Examination

The medical examination may include blood haemogram, urine examination, blood sugar, cholesterol, renal-function tests, liver-function tests, chest radiograph, ECG and other investigations considered necessary. Female candidates may also undergo ultrasonography of the lower abdomen and pelvis. Candidates should maintain dental hygiene, remove ear wax before reporting, carry recent spectacles and an ophthalmologist prescription where corrected vision is used, and be prepared for a multi-day medical stay at their own expense.
